Milk Pie

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour and 15 minutes (plus 2 hours to cool)

Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

1 pie crust, unbaked

⅔ cup white sugar

⅓ cup brown sugar
4 tablespoon all purpose flour
½ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups Zeal Creamery Whole Milk

Directions

  1. Set a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 400.

  2. Prepare a pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate (metal is preferred for even baking).  Set aside in the fridge and on a baking sheet.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Add the heavy cream and vanilla, whisk until combined and thick.

  4. Transfer sugar and cream mixture into the pie crust and smooth out to reach the edges. Pour the milk over top, about ⅔ of the way up the pie plate. Top with cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.

  5. Bake for 15 minutes then lower the oven temperature to 350 and continue baking for another 50 to 60 minutes, until the pie is golden brown and set. The pie should slightly jiggle in the center when shaken, but should not look wet.

  6. Cool the pie on a sheet rack for at least 2 hours before serving.

  7. Serve with powdered sugar and berries of your choice.
